Our Quick top 10 tips for pregnancy travel:
- Bring antacid tablets with you
- Wear flight socks / stockings
- Make sure you can contact your doctor by phone or email for advice or get a referral for one at your destination
- Pack snacks for the flight
- Wear breathable fabrics in hot climates and comfy loose fitting clothes on the plane
- Wear loose fitting shoes on the flight or you may not be able to get them back on again
- Drink lots of water when flying
- Ask for an aisle seat so you can get up and down regularly to stretch your legs and lets face it, pee
- Check that your travel insurance covers pregnancy related issues
- Enjoy yourself
Air travel & pregnancy, what do I need to know?
Doctors - You MUST check with your doctor before flying - it is also a good idea in the 3rd trimester (or if you look big earlier) to get a letter from them clearing you for travel.
Airline - Most airlines restrict pregnancy travel in the 3rd trimester, generally the cut off is 36th week or 32nd week for multiples so give your airline a call to check their policy.
